Our candidates play this same game when they run for election.
And our current rules require them to abandon their voters’ majority opinions in order to win.

Voting Results
Instead of miners we have candidates.
Instead of a gold mine, we have a public opinion curve which shows how many voters support each political position between yes-always and no-never.
Instead of miners staking a claim, candidates place their political platforms.
Instead of a set yield for a staked claim, it is how far along the spectrum their platform is accepted.
Instead of max stake yield, we have the majority opinion of the voters — the political opinion most supported by the population.
Instead of unmined gold, we have voters getting the option to choose a new election with different candidates (NEWDC).
Instead of miners mining for gold nuggets, we have candidates going after voters who can choose only one candidate. These voting methods are referred to as MinVoting methods and they include plurality and ranked choice voting.
Instead of miners mining for gold veins, we have candidates going after voters who can choose any and all the candidates they wish. Voting methods that allow all candidates to be independently evaluated by all voters are called MaxVoting methods and they include approval voting, score voting, STAR voting, majority judgement voting and vote 3-2-1 among others.
Did you notice how when MinVoting methods were used (gold nuggets were mined), the candidates (miners) had to move away from the majority opinion of their voters (max stake yield)?
And did you notice how when MaxVoting was used (gold veins), all the candidates had to move to the majority opinion of their voters and ended up supporting the same political platform?
What relevance does political party have when all candidates support roughly the same political platform?
This will begin to give you an idea of how effective MaxVoting will be toward ending political division in the United States. To play around with a full voting simulation system that allows you to add strategic voters, use RCV and score voting methods, etc., go to the final lesson of the VisualExplanation link here. To better understand how MaxVoting methods end political division go through the step-by-step interactive VisualExplanation module starting here.
If you found the MaxMining game easy to win, so will the candidates, once we institute MaxVoting.
Candidates who support the majority opinion of their voters will win. You will win. All of us will win.
